The Adirondacks have been Activated!

We successfully completed the Activate the Adirondacks event, and the turnout was far better than I expected.   We had 36 registrants and so far, after only 4 days, I have gotten logs for 13 activators.  We learned a lot in our first year doing this event.  Promotion to “hunters” is a major item we learned.  I myself had contacts with POTA operators who had no idea the event was happening.  This is one of the items we would like to address for next year.

Keep in mind this is the first ever Activate the Adirondacks event, and only a few individuals organized this event.   Also keep in mind it has only been 4 days for submissions.  But for 4 days of submissions already yields a total of 1236 QSO’s representing all 6 Zones.  Also, we have at least 11 Activator Awards, 2 Hiker Awards, and 1 Hunter Award.  The breakdown of the awards is as follows:

  • Adirondack Activator Award – Make at least 10 Contacts in at least 1 Zone
  • Adirondack Hiker Award – Make at least 10 Contacts in at least 3 different Zones
  • Adirondack Master Award – Make at least 10 Contacts in at least 5 different Zones
  • Adirondack Hunter – Make at least 1 contact in at least 3 different Zones
  • Adirondack Master Hunter – Make at least 1 contact in all 6 Zones

Shown below is the current breakout of statistics based on Zone:
