NEWS
9/23/25 – Base Spotting page is live. In the end it will display all POTA activators in US-2001. We have the ability to filter based on band and mode. Since the event is not running at this time the page will display all parks up to 50 spots. The site also has the ability to self-spot. When the event is active, the feature will be turned on to allow the activators a central place to Self-Spot as well as list current activators. The idea when we self-spot is to add the Zone number in the comments section of the spot. This has been tested and works with the POTA.app API. I built this plugin to work with WordPress sites. If you are interested in the plugin reach out to me and I will give you the code I used.
9/22/25 – Working on Spotting Web function for next year’s event.
I have created a web plugin for querying api.pota.app and filtering down to US-2001. I have created the base plugin that shows all activators latest spot. I am currently looking into a refresh mechanism and added filtering options such as Modes and Bands .
9/19/25 – New Web Home for the Activate the Adirondack event.
This website has been created for current and future events. The object is to house most current news and results in a single place. As changes to the event happen, we will announce them here.
9/15/25 – The inaugural Activate the Adirondacks event has concluded.
The event completed successfully, and we had a great turn-out for a first-time event. We also got back great feedback from operators participating in the event. Some of the items that heard about are listed here:
- The need for a more uniform simple exchange among CW, SSB, and Digital.
- The need for better promotion of the event to help bring in more hunters.
- Another possible way to track activators such as dedicated spotting and/or an API to bring everything to a single interface.
- Templates for logging programs.
There are some of the items we will be discussing for next year.
